Description

Monday, the 31st of May 2021, the Green Week at the UVT began with a joint meeting of UNITA member universities. The event was dedicated to discuss the contribution of the European university network UNITA to the European green transition. The works were moderated by dr. Raluca Bercea – reader at The Faculty of Law and dr. ec. Alexandra Petcu from the West University of Timișoara. Dr. Gabriela Mircea, dr. Liliana Donath and dr. Alexandru Roja as representatives of The Green UVT were also present.

The plenary session was followed by a virtual round table session, in which participants, divided into working groups, explored options for using the Living Lab methodology for co-creation processes in order to sustainably develop the community.

The Academic panel focused on the transformation of the university curriculum from the perspective of sustainable development and the Public-Private Partnership panel for the implementation of the specific objectives of the circular economy.

One of the highlights of the Green week at the West University of Timisoara was the inauguration of the urban garden UVT on the 3rd of June 2021.

Urban garden UVT is an ecological landscaping project of a generous space of the university. It also proposes a concept of urban furnishing of the outer courtyard, with the integration of mixed functions for formal and informal education, for recycling, recirculation and experimentation of local resources, for increasing and capitalizing on urban biodiversity and integrating slow-food crops, so as to achieve the transformation of the yard into an ecosystem by integrating the principles of sustainable development.
